That's easy, around 1.000 - 2.000 chess engines are available.

OK let us start ... need around 4 months?!

:-)

No, no ...
Have a look here:
https://rwbc-chess.de/ ... yellow link, engine chronology!

So, we can do in the four months other things as to search for it.

Best
Frank

PS:
I have in my list the TOP-225 only.

Some links are broken (very old engines).

I was looking for Mint 2.3... it doesn't work, downloaded it from thewaybackmachine, file is corrupted.

Try this. It includes a large book, so it's a lot bigger than 1MB.

Thanks for the links !

BTW, I was thinking about downloading engines with different ELOs, using the CCRL list... in the 1600 - 2000 ELO range.
My idea is to play/train against them.
I tried changing Komodo settings but I think it is not the way to play against an engine of my level ( =~1900 FIDE).
In CCRL the ELO of Mint is "1699". GChess IV is "1801", Heracles is "1913" ... I'll see how I can perform against them.

A really very nice work can be found on ...
https://fhub.jimdofree.com/

Try out ...
Chess-DOS-VirtualMachine
Play vs. a lot of the old DOS engines

Try out ...
CB-Emu Pro (Chess Computer Emulator)
Play vs. all the old chess-computers

Interesting are also engines with different playing strength levels, like Wasp, Patricia, Komodo and many others (UCI feature).
I play most of the time vs. Wasp 4.50 on my DGT Board with an Rasp-PI and around 2200 Elo and have here a lot of fun.

Why not play against the bots on Chessiverse or Chess.com then you don't have to deal with trying to download old engines.
