Pawn storms
Anyone know of any engine or engine parameters/personalities that like to engage in pawn storms?

Re: Pawn storms
Use a chees engine that has parameters for passed pawns , pawn structure , mobility and material. I have gotten close to a pawn storm engine by playing with variations of these parameters. Usual range on these parameters is 0 to 200. I recommend fruit 2.3.1.

Re: Pawn storms
in Rodent III there's also a pawnstorm (UCI) parameter, besides many other parameters btw
with my (rather scarce) human chess knowledge i thought that pawn storms are only useful in closed
positions; pushing pawns in front of your king can be dangerous, especially in open positions.
In closed positions it makes sense, certainly imo when having a bishop fianchetto.
So to get such such closed positions more often, you would imo need a specialized book.

Re: Pawn storms
Hi there,
most aggressive engine in pawn storms I know is Patzer by Roland Pfister (Germany).
Roland created a lot of extra code for it.
Good examples are the games from the tourneys in Leiden.
Often Patzer have luck with it in the early mid-games, but lost later the games in the late mid-games ... because that style was too much in pawn-storms.
Yeah, the good and old Patzer!

Best

Re: Pawn storms
Thanks for the responses. I am aware of pawn storm etc parameters in Rodent and fruit {although I cant find them in my Fruit 2.3.1, but other fruits and togas do have them) as do other engines, also sometimes evaluation (material) can be changed to encourage pawn moves. I will try the engine Patzer also. I seem to be relatively weak at defending against pawn storms so I like to train against them. Perhaps in the future engines can be trained to play in certain styles I guess this has already occurred.
