A short message to remind you that you have 11 days left to register to the WCCC. After that date, the registration fee will be doubled. I also remind you that generous travel grants will be offered to chess programmers.

This is the letter of the ICGA president regarding travel grants:
I hope to meet you there.David Levy wrote:Dear Chess programmer,
Those of you who were present in Amsterdam last year at the World Computer Chess Championship, Computer Olympiad and the conference on Computer Games, may have seen the presentation by our Beijing hosts, in which they showed photographs of the 5-star accommodation that will be used for the ICGA events in September 28 - October 5, 2008.
We are now pleased to inform potential participants in this year's events that the cost of the hotel will be 30-40 Euro per room per night, and the cost of meals will be 5-10 Euro per day. These rates will make it even more appealing for those who come to Beijing for the ICGA events.
In addition, for the participants in the World Computer Chess Championship, we are pleased to announce that sponsorship of the chess event has allowed the ICGA to make the following offer of financial support.
[1] All chess programs that are past winners (or successor programs of past winners) of the World Championship will receive $1,500 for their team's travel and hotel expenses.
[2] A further 20 chess programs will receive $1,000.
[3] These payments will be made immediately after the tournament by direct bank transfer.
[4] The entry fees will be charged on the same basis as in the 2006 World Championship in Turin. The entry fee money will not be collected in Beijing but will be deducted from the subsidies described above.
[5] The ICGA will advise all participants as to the allocation of the $1,000 subsidies at the same time as acceptances are sent out to the programming teams. It is possible, but not certain, that the number of programs receiving $1,000 subsidies might be increased at that time.
In the case of chess programs entered from China and nearby East-Asian countries, the maximum amount of the subsidy will be the actual cost of an economy class air ticket plus the cost of hotel room and food for the duration of the event with a maximum of $ 600.
We very much hope that the generous level of subsidy offered by the ICGA will ensure that we have a high number of participants at the World Computer Chess Championship.
