I have two Fritz 10 questions.
To play a human game, I can simply choose "switch off engine". But how can I make the computer play itself after a certain point in a game, or from a certain position (besides clicking "Force Move Now" every 10 seconds)?
Also, how can I set up an engine match between two computers playing Chess960? I choose Chess960, pick two engines that supposedly can play the variation (Fritz 10 and Shredder 10), but when the game starts the board always reverts to regular chess! How do I fix this?

Choose "Tools/Analysis/Shootout..." from the menu. The engine(s) you select there, will play starting from the current position, against themselves but not against each other.lukeprog wrote: how can I make the computer play itself after a certain point in a game, or from a certain position (besides clicking "Force Move Now" every 10 seconds)?
I cannot answer the Chess960 question because I still use the no. 8 GUI version, which didn't support that yet. I do not know the Chess960 options of the new GUI versions.
But I did run a tournament once, with a set of "compatible" positions. See these positions below. If you create a new empty database and append these EPD to it, you can use it as an opening database for engine matches and tournaments.
To be able to append them to a database in Fritz, you would need to copy the EPD lines, save it as an ASCII text file with the extension .epd and then choose "Edit/Append EPD..." in the database screen.
(This tip is of course only a workaround should it be impossible in another way.)
