will go from house to house checking computers for installed AI software,
a good idea, replace all Win11 installs (with apparently a lot of AI spyware(*) ) with Linux Mint
(and a working Wine install) the latter (wine) not always so easy yet
(*) i presume there will be (more) opt out methods coming though
You can't put the genie back in the bottle, even it he is an evil genie.
Sometimes he grants good wishes.
Sometimes he grants bad wishes.
But for me, he is a calm and helpful servant. And yes, I am that evil owner who will not use the final wish to grant him freedom.
I'll shine the lamp whenever I darn well please.
As long as I have a compiler and a computer, nobody will be able to stop me.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Note, first please a reference where Kamsky literally said such a thing (couldn't find anything);
while he may have been sometimes negative about chess engines, the capitalized quote may not be real.

I am against 'COMPANIES should be banned' and such nonsense, of course. One thing is regulate certain things to avoid abuses (OK) and other is a total ban of everything. 'People pollutes when breathing, let us kill everybody' (like in James Bond film Moonraker of 1979). I always think on the following meme when I read or hear such thoughts:
I wish I were a horseshoe crab and do not need to worry about those things!

If Kamsky was serious then it must be true! Many GM's do tend to go crazy after time. Maybe too much chess and eventual mental health issues do have something in common. That has to be the stupidest thing I have heard for a while ... on many levels.
Chess analysis is destroyed. I remember watching the "analysis" of Alexander Grischuk that he made of the games between Spassky and Fischer. Well. There was zero analysis.
"Look how badly they were playing! Stochfish says it is -1.5 here!". And zero explanations. Zero analysis. Zero anything. Only computer evaluation. Grischuk even himself said that he doesn't understand why the engine shows this kind of eval.
And all the comments were about "How wonderful is to see Grischuk commenting!". What is so wonderful about it? That he tells you Stockfish eval? That he PRETENDS he is analyzing anything?
Of course, engine development should not be stopped. On the contrary: it should be enhanced and engines should eventually solve and destroy this game. But Kamsky has a point.
