Really? That one, too?

The LiChess file I posted works here, too. It was only an example that they don't respect the 255 character in one line either.

Download the games from here:OliverBr wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 9:19 amThe pgn-Files I posted are from this link of this CCRL site:Modern Times wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:22 am That is the raw pgn from Graham's live broadcast isn't it ? I'd say it only actually becomes an "official" CCRL game once he submits it for processing (which coincidentally he does himself) and it is parsed and becomes available for download from the CCRL web site. How does that same game look when downloaded from the CCRL website once it has been processed through their scripts ?

All those files are final there and contain all the moves and variants in one single line and none is less than 256 characters.
As I mentioned before pgn Files from LiChess have the same "Issue".
Ok, thank you for the link:Modern Times wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 10:00 am Download the games from here:

They are the "final" ones.
I withdraw my questions. I find it overelaborate that way. It's also suboptimal not knowing if and when the file will be available there.
What stops you from recompiling xboard with the fix I propose?OliverBr wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 2:35 pmI withdraw my questions. I find it overelaborate that way. It's also suboptimal not knowing if and when the file will be available there.
Therefore this great page (https://ccrl.live/pgns/) exists where you have direct access to the game that has been played a moment ago.
Wouldn't it be easier for everyone to increase BufferSize in Xboard and make a release?
I am just asking and would be very grateful, because I like Xboard really a lot.
Yes, you would have to wait up to a week or so for Graham to update the main 40/15 site - and you can't download a specific game of course.OliverBr wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 2:35 pmI withdraw my questions. Please consider asking CCRL to fix their scripting that saves those live games as soon as they are played so that the appropriate line splitting is done immediately, so that when you download the .pgn file it is actually compliant with the 255-character limit to begin with. The intent behind PGN was clearly to be human-readable, and just as clearly, a single line of text containing tens of thousands of characters doesn't qualify as such.
The broadcast viewer saves the PGNs in a different way and is completely independent of the CCRL scripts.Dave Gomboc wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 8:34 amPlease consider asking CCRL to fix their scripting that saves those live games as soon as they are played so that the appropriate line splitting is done immediately, so that when you download the .pgn file it is actually compliant with the 255-character limit to begin with. While it would ideally be simple to do, making a new release of XBoard is unfortunately far from a trivial task at the moment.
Fair enough--I'm not at all familiar with the details. I'll revise: who is the responsible party for the code that generates the malformed PGN that Oliver is unhappy with, and can an interested party report that problem to them and possibly also assist in remedying it?Graham Banks wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 10:51 am The broadcast viewer saves the PGNs in a different way and is completely independent of the CCRL scripts.
