Re: Golden Nuggets Active 16CPU (non-CCRL)
Thanks to Graham Banks, finally a serious round-robin tournament among top engines, organized using 12 'nugget' positions taken from World Championship games between humans.
Rivers of ink have been spilled analyzing these positions, and it is incredibly fascinating, both from a chess and computing perspective, to compare human evaluations, neural network assessments, and classic evaluation functions. This is made even more intriguing by the presence of Alexander, the 'human-like' engine which, with its handicap mode and 'Avatar' concept, allows for simulating not only playing strength but also a player’s style.
Enjoy watching and commenting!

Re: Golden Nuggets Active 16CPU (non-CCRL)
From AM:
Positions are nuggets drawn from world championship matches. We define, strictly speaking, a nugget as one in which the win % is equal to the draw %, i.e., with win probability 75 or, respectively, the % of defeat is equal to the % of draw, i.e., with win probability 25 The extraction process was, clearly, automated with our own sw. Subsequently, the author of the opening book chose the best ones, based on other, more refined criteria as well.

Is this 16CPU meaning no hyperthreading and 32 threads?
