it brings tears in my eyes.

we cannot interview jan louwmann anymore or wolfgang delmare.
we cannot tell don daily how much komodo meant to us.
we cannot tell david broughton how much sci sys MKV made to us.

we can try to remember the past.
and to honor the pioneers.

IMO, and that is really only MY opinion, you can have any other, we should tell our idols how much we believe in them as long as they live.
and this goes directly to
ed schroeder, chrilly donninger, frans morsch, ulf rathsmann, thomas nitsche + elmar henne, marty hirsch, martin bryant, richard lang, kaare danielson, vincent diepeven, markus gillgasch, ulrich tuerke, gerd isenberg, werner koch, john stanback, chris whittington, christophe theron, mark uniacke, wim rens, johan de koning, ron nelson, dan+kathe spracklen, david kittinger, ..... bob hyatt, david levy, .... S

i thought the championship in spain honors these people.
because they are the people who made our hobby.
Hear, hear!

Very well said Thorsten.

Thank you for the who's who reminder of so many computer chess pioneers and influencers over the past 50 years. I'd like to also propose you for that list for all you've done keeping the information flowing, and, of course, Don Beal who was at the first WCCC in 1974, and will be joining us again at the last!

As I type this in the train to the airport, I can't express how much I'm looking forward to the event, and meeting everyone there!

All the very best,
John

Thank you, you are my heroes!

Like Mclane I'm a chess engInes fan since the beginnings. My first chess computer was Fidelity Mini Sensory Chess in 1981 and my neverending chess addiction continued becoming a chess computer and chess software retailer until 2000. Now I mod Stockfish for my exclusive pleasure :D

Is there a way to watch all the games LIVE? Please keep us informed publishing the games after every round.

Kind regards, YOU are a gent :D

How reliably t he engine performs?
I will bet my $1000, put SF in the pool of those engines in 8 game sample. If SF did not win the tournment , take my money.

8 games samples is too small if you have too close engines like SF vs Leela, ( within 20 elo in TCEC conditions). In this tournment when there is around 200 elo gap, 8 games is more than enough for SF to be a winner.
