And Darko, Komodo did with a 6th game in this match. Graham just hasn't posted the updates yet, because, well, he's a total mess right now.

Game 91 - an interesting battle.

Post by Graham Banks »

GAME 91

In a Pirc, Houdini initially looks for play on the queenside. Komodo counters with piece play on the kingside and after getting Houdini's attention there, opens up the queenside and takes control of the open c-file. The kingside eventually opens up too, but a flurry of exchanges leads into a drawish rook and pawns endgame. Komodo leads by +5 =85 -1.

Game 92 - Houdini equalises early and game is drawn.

GAME 92

Komodo plays this opening line differently, looking to establish control of the centre. However, Houdini has little trouble neutralising those efforts and the game is eventually drawn. Komodo leads by +5 =86 -1.

Game 93 - opposite side castling leads to action.

Post by Graham Banks »

GAME 93

In a Queens Fianchetto Defence, we see opposite side castling. Houdini takes aim at the opposing king on the kingside, whilst Komodo races to create problems for Houdini's king on the queenside. It appears that Komodo is the quickest to pose issues, but Houdini's defence holds firm and after much piece shuffling, the game is drawn. Komodo leads by +5 =87 -1.

Game 94 - more measured play from both sides. Drawn.

GAME 94

The return game follows a similar theme, although play is more measured. When the queens come off, it's like the teeth have been pulled from both attacks. The position becomes fairly stale and Komodo can even give up a pawn without danger of defeat. Another draw and the score is now +5 =88 -1 in favour of Komodo.

Game 95 - Komodo holds Qd6 Scandinavian easily enough.

Post by Graham Banks »

GAME 95

In a Qd6 Scandinavian, Komodo's position remains solid and Houdini is unable to gain anything. When Houdini eventually tries to create mischief on the kingside, Komodo is able to force a draw by perpetual check. Komodo leads by +5 = 89 -1.

Game 96 - Komodo wraps up the match with nice attack.

Post by Graham Banks »

GAME 96

Interesting opening play from Komodo sees its king go to f1, followed by a pawn push to h4-h5. Initially, Houdini appears to be holding until Komodo is able to play g4 under favourable circumstances. A piece sac is involved as fine attacking play from Komodo sets up a won game. The match now over as Komodo registers a sixth win. The final score is +6 =89 -1 to Komodo.
