I agree with you Lonnie, I don't think it is a clone.reflectionofpower wrote:First I heard of that. If my memory serves me correctly Naum was on the scene before Rybka?Sedat Canbaz wrote:Good news...

Btw, as far as I know,
Naum 4.2 seems to be derivative or clone of Rybka
So...Naum 4.6 will be tested in SCCT, only in case of +100 Elo over Rybka 3
Thanks for understanding!)

Yes but it does not contradict the claim that Naum4.2(and not old Naum) is a derivative of Rybka.reflectionofpower wrote:First I heard of that. If my memory serves me correctly Naum was on the scene before Rybka?Sedat Canbaz wrote:Good news...

Based on my knowledge it is not a derivative of the source of rybka but the programmer tuned the evaluation to give an output that is similar to rybka's output so similarity tests show high similarity between the latest Naum versions and Rybka.

Hi Uri,
very similar to Rybka's style.
So I asked me the same again and again.
If I am looking in test positions I can't see anything that Naum is a clone of Rybka. After all Information I got from Alexander (older interview or what I wrote me in the past), I can't believe that Naum is clone.
Last year he wrote me:
"Clones killed the wish to compete in me."
Alexander is one of the programmers, lost interest in computer chess because he does like clone topics.
I wish me that Naum 4.6 will be available with a good backround information to the development on wiki page. I will not see Naum on speedy share!
Best
Frank

Hey Ruxy !
Thanks...I did not know that )))
In my eyes,
Any engine which is derivative or clone, but + 100 Elo over based engine is:
- ORIGINAL WORK
Note also,
There is no any engine, which is 100% to be based on own ideas!
BTW, everybody of us see differently the world...
So...some of us (under water):
- up to 5 meters
- up to 50 meters
- Even there are people who is able to see up to 500 meters !!
Best,
Sedat

I distinctly remember Naum being top dog for a while and then Rybka came on the scene, was like 150+ elo points stronger than Naum and then Naum faded away.AdminX wrote:I agree with you Lonnie, I don't think it is a clone.reflectionofpower wrote:First I heard of that.
