EXchess v7.31 released

Post by dchoman »

Hi Everyone,

EXchess v7.31 is now available on my webpage...

https://sites.google.com/site/experimentalchessprogram/

I had not planned a release at this time, but Matthew Lai reported an bug in castling that needed to be addressed. Then I discovered a second bug in the endgame evaluation while testing. Both are now fixed, and there are a few other changes including the introduction of singular extensions and less aggressive reductions.

Thanks to Matthew for finding this bug and for contributing another patch to allow EXchess to compile smoothly under the llvm compiler on a Mac!

Dear Dan,

Many Thanks...

I just wonder, can we expect any Elo improvement than previous version?

Best,

You are very welcome :). I grabbed the new version for my gauntlet. Will be running a few thousand very fast games tonight.

Maybe, depends on time control. Because I wasn't planning a release, I haven't done much testing at longer time controls to put a good number on this. At very short (ultra-bullet, game in 6 sec) I do know it is about even with the previous version in head-to-head play, but I was willing to accept that as I was switching out some of my reductions for singular extensions to make the search a bit more conservative.
