I do not agree with you, the journalist was very keen by asking this particular question, and that was NOT a stupid question. I believe that was a very intelligent question, indeed, and simply because Vishy blunder, he did not need to be so rude to the reporter who was just trying to get a good response from Mr. Anand who was so furious to have lost to Carlsen that he lost his professional demeanor.

PS: Anand could have answered by saying, sorry to all my Indians fans for not being able to choose the best moves with the white pieces, I know that all al you are following with Houdini and stockfish, but I am just human, in which my best move was not as good as Carlsen best moves.

[Note]
I edited Adam's original post, in the beginning of this thread, to add links to all the WCC's games posted in this thread. I thought getting easy access to those games, instead of laboriously searching through all the pages for them was worth desecrating Adam's post*.

* Actually, desecrating Adam's posts are always worth it! :P

A really fast look at the game:

Anand was constantly allowing Carlsen to destroy his pawn structure....

Just take a look at the position after the move 31....

Against a player of Carlsen's calibre it's rather extremely hard to hold white's position....

I am devastated from Anand's performance so far not to mention that he's playing in India among his people....

 regards,

Very nice performance by Carlsen today.

I haven't had a chance to analyze the game but it is remarkable that Carlsen won the last Rook endgame with a pawn up, and won this one a pawn down, with Black! This is what he is crazy good at: squeezing out wins in the endgame. I agree Anand will have trouble unless he can get Carlsen into positions that are uncomfortable for him.

I do not agree with you, the journalist was very keen in asking that particular question, and that was NOT a stupid question. I believe that was a very intelligent question indeed, and simply because Vishy made inferior moves he did not need to be so rude to the reporter who was just trying to get a good response from Mr. Anand who was so furious to have lost to Carlsen and at that moment lost his professional demeanor.

Yes I am serious, and I do know what I am talking about. Journalism was my first career, which I gave up after moving to the U.S.A; since I would have to compete with so many American reporters in their own language.

If you have to blame someone, blame the organizers who forced the press conference 1 minute after a tiring 4-hour game! Also the journalist was a Norwegian, who probably planned to get a reaction or two out of Anand for the morning papers. 'He fail right into my trap' thats what they said now but I didn't hear Carlsen say that. I root for Carlsen but even him seemed uncomfortable withe the line of questions.

If I maintain the parameters of former simulations, I get now:

Code: Select all

White advantage: 40.0 Elo.
Supposed rating difference: 47.0 Elo.

            1000000 simulations:

Carlsen wins: 827374
Anand wins: 48138
Drawn matches: 124488

Approximated elapsed time: 4.31 seconds.
Carlsen's win of today is very important due to the short length of the match (only 12 games). If I suppose 30% of chances for Carlsen after a drawn match (I think that 30% is a low value): 82.7374% + 0.3*12.4488% = 86.47204% ~ 86.47%. There is a big jump of over 15% in my clumsy forecast just after this game.

------------------------

Today Anand played really well the middlegame until ..., Rc1+; just as a side note, I started to see the game around 30th move and my last seen move was Bh7 by Carlsen, just the previous move to ..., Rc1+. Curious thing.

I am satisfied with the fighting spirit of last games.

Regards from Spain.

Ajedrecista.
Hi Jesus, I also get 86%/14% in my sims, and the funny thing is that betters too give 86%/14% odds.

As to the game, I was so sure of a draw that I too left viewing before Rc1+, only to discover 2 hours later that Anand lost. Carlsen seems to be a wizard of endgames, he can get the blood in apparently (by engines) even endgames.
+2 -0 =4 in favour of Carlsen looks like definitive in a match of 12 games. Running 1e+6 simulations again with the same parameters than other times:

Code: Select all

White advantage: 40.0 Elo.
Supposed rating difference: 47.0 Elo.

            1000000 simulations:

Carlsen wins: 963681
Anand wins: 4994
Drawn matches: 31325

Approximated elapsed time: 2.92 seconds.
Supposing again 30% of chances for Carlsen in case of a drawn match: 96.3681% + 0.3*3.1325% = 97.30785% ~ 97.31%. I guess that you will obtain something near to 97%.

Viewing that 1e+6 simulations run so fast, let me try with 1e+7 simulations with the same parameters:

Code: Select all

White advantage: 40.0 Elo.
Supposed rating difference: 47.0 Elo.

           10000000 simulations:

Carlsen wins: 9637891
Anand wins: 50768
Drawn matches: 311341

Approximated elapsed time: 32.24 seconds.
96.37891% + 0.3*3.11341% = 97.312933% ~ 97.31% after 1e+7 simulations. I am glad to see that my numbers do not oscillate so much with such large numbers. :)

------------------------

Now I think that the match is over in favour of Carlsen and the question could be the following: how many games will be played from now? Less than six? Of course I know that it is still too soon to proclaim Carlsen champion, but now I would put my money on him.

@Julien: thank you for edit Adam's original post: now it is very easy to find the games in this thread! :)

Regards from Spain.
