Capivara books? It's the HS-Classic? YES !!!

SzG wrote:I have just noticed that the abk book included in the Capivara package is actually the late Harry Schnapp's "HS-classic 10moves 2.0" book with only 3 different bytes in the whole 18 MB file. The name Harry Schnapp can also be found in the file together with other text in German.

I don't think the Capivara author has the right to use this book renamed as if it were his own work. I have found no reference to Harry on the author's site, in fact I don't even find the author's name or a contact address.

I think he should be warned that what he does is illegal. Or is it not?
I really would not like have taken notice of this thread, I think it was provocative, or misunderstanding, but as there is a link, stamped on the site http://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com/Capivara, and I saw, I read, and I should not answer ... but

I hope that readers of this thread to draw their own conclusions:

The activities regarding the Capivara chess engine are just a hobby, I'm a programmer who believes that Computer Science is not an end in itself.

Since youth, my eyes always twinkled to imagining that a machine could act and think as a human being to help humans in their activities, their difficulties, and their all other things ...

I have fun with everything that is related to Capivara chess engine. This helps me to treat amnesia relative caused by work stress (although this is precisely the same area of my vocation), a depression that can lead me to have an ABEND (among coworkers, is so call the sick leave caused by stress).

I would never take as my own, the result of a job that was not the fruit of my labor.

So I'm definitely adopting the opening book "HS-Classic" by Harry Schnapp, as the Capivara's opening book, recognizing the work of Harry Schnapp, whose I have always admired, the best opening books ever made, because even the books considered "neutral" leave a good position for Capivara engine, better than any other ...

coforme abaixo abaixo:

NOME DO ARQUIVO <=> CHESS ENGINE
capivara.txt <=> Capivara, quase todas as versões até 0.07
book.txt <=> TSCP, Capivara 0.01
livro.txt <=> Xadreco ***

*** Para utilizar o livro "HSclassic10mV3.txt" a engine Xadreco
    deve ser recompilada, fazendo antes a modificaçao abaixo no
    código-fonte:

#define LINHASDOLIVRO 87011
//define a qtd de linhas no livro de abertura
// "HSclassic10mV3"
I remasterized the book "HS-classic 10moves 2.0.abk" and translated for all formats of opening books which I have used with some version of Capivara engine. (Change the version number due to minimal changes ...)

There is no need to create an account on 4shared to download any file ...

To log on to the site 4shared, just do the login from your account at twiter, facebook or gmail (note well the icons of twiter, facebook and gmail, that appear on the login screen ...).

I uploaded the package to 4 shared because the file was too big, with all the formats of books opening that I put (rar archive with more than 15 mega), which went beyond the allowed size in wikispaces.

You may have applied significant changes to the book since then, you may give credit to the original book creator now, but you did neither at the time I was starting this thread. At that time you simply renamed the book so Harry's name was not to be seen, nor was he given credit.

I have no problem with you now that you eventually corrected those mistakes, but I can see no reason why you should feel offended. I would have expected an apology, if anything.
Sorry Gabor, by misunderstanding, a year ago I had not even an account in TalkChess ... I just saw the post because I saw a direct link on the page for Capivara at ChessProgramming Wiki http://chessprogramming.wikispaces.com/Capivara .

I can not apologize to Harry Schnapp directly, I can only do it on another plane.

So, to all peopl excuse me.
