The group with your engine has begun play. Jim got me a jet exe that works great! I will be posting every few rounds. I cannot post after every round with as many going at once as I will end up with.

George,
Did the .exe I included (made with launch4j) not work?

No, Dan. It would not work. Jim said it is probably due to the fact that I don't have the correct Java updates. Problem is this system is only a few months old and has the latest of everything as I was told. So I had no idea what I was looking for. And you do not just install Java updates unless you are sure, from my POV. Because they are all 100MB that I have ever seen.
But Jim was able to set it up with an excelsior jet exe- with no strength loss at all. What the excelsior jet exe does for you is it is not "java dependent". So java becomes moot as a necessity. In fact, most java engines come with the launch exe and the jet exe. Yours did not, but Jim took care of it. I will tell you something, Dan. I absolutely have no idea what we would do without Ablett. If he isn't the most valuable CC community individual- I would love to know who is. I was wanting to run this huge deal- because the last year I tested with CCRL- freewares were all I ran. And I love to do this, because the freeware authors appreciate your work so much. And they never get enough credit. I will be honest- if an author can program his engine and set it up so it will load and play- he is already a champion in my eyes.
Updates tonight- Group 14 has been running a few hours and you are in it. A few minutes ago I started Group 13's RR. Then I can run a 3rd RR on this same system- but first I am going to clesn out my other quad and get a couple RRs running on it.
great idea and I like the thing about the "no endgame table bases a lot". Will be interesting to see how the engines that are used to have them manage without.

Thomas...
Thanks for stopping by, Thomas. I have been feeling that way forever- but when Jim Abblet and Dr. Hyatt said they did absolutely no good- and both said it for the same reasons, I figured a good time to unload my egtbs and bbs.

Isn't that the truth. Jim is fantastic.
Thanks for clarifying the problem. If you aren't Java 1.7 it's a problem. What I plan to do in the future is keep my compiles a version or two behind the latest Java. I can't easily back up because I (unknowingly) used a lot of 1.7 stuff in Cupcake. But I can hold still and let the rest of the world catch up or get a little ahead.

I'm looking forward to your tournament.

Yes, and do you realize that I got a notice that java had an update for me today. And it was "Java 6- update 37". So the latest from Java would not have even helped me with Cupcake. You will do better as you say if you stay a little behind updates. I will be posting from 2 RR I have running tonight some time. Instead of right now starting a 3rd RR on this same machine- I am going to my other quad, an XP Pro, and clean up some mess and install engines I need so I can start 2 or 3 more RR on it at once.
