Re: #186, #193
I'll look at these this evening. I just see there's 237 positions in the PGN but 225 after removing doubles ...jdart wrote:for these too - 186 & 193 - what is the test position?

Re: #186, #193
#186 is the famous game where Smirin succeed in building a fortress against HIARCS in an inferior position. I don't know yet exactly where to improve black play. After 51.Nc3, the fortress is complete, white can play only king moves, black have no square to enter.jdart wrote:for these too - 186 & 193 - what is the test position?

#193 is the game from the test position #192, the game is a highly complicated endgame and I've not yet the full proof for the best move.

Maybe you need a separate "to be investigated" file.
Along those lines you might also look at these:
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1287604 - early exchange sac by Topalov, converted to a win.
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1224884 - Estrin vs. Strand, 20. .. Rxe2, another exchange sac for long-term compensation.

#185 : 46.Nxb6+ is the move to avoid (game updated)jdart wrote:#185 - the game is given but what is the problem?
#237 has the same "Event" tag as #236 - this is incorrect.
--Jon
#237 : "Event" tag removed
-> file updated, same location : http://home.scarlet.be/vincentlejeune/h ... a-july.pgn

The first is very hard to prove.jdart wrote:Maybe you need a separate "to be investigated" file.

Second is nice !
SF finds it in less than 5 min (AMD 2*2.2 Ghz)
But we needs more investigations.

Re: correction, question
There are still a lots PGN errors that many GUIs are unable to read. May I ask you not to hand-code PGN? Download the new ScidVsPC 4.8, it will tell you about 40 PGN errors.

No, I'll continue to modify by hand it's way more faster. No you give me a tools to check syntax, there will be way less errors, thanks !kinderchocolate wrote:There are still a lots PGN errors that many GUIs are unable to read. Re: Hard test set talkchesscom-2012
I had a problem with 2 of the first 8 moves, so I stopped the program.
