The first final round. Critter 1.4. 46 best books of tournament (no more than two versions of the book) + Critter 1.4 with its standard book + Critter 1.4 without the book. 4 +2 for the game. Round 2. 2256 party. 18-19 days.

Hi, a long time ago I ran a Critter1.2 tournament with two well-known books. I do not have the pgn anymore but the result was

Code: Select all

Critter 1.2 ph2010.bin +32
Critter 1.2 own book +21
Critter 1.2 performance.bin	+15
Critter 1.2 nobook 0
It was just an experiment to assure myself that keeping own book is not a completely hopeless idea. But the competition itself was totally unfair because there was no limit on book size.

Code: Select all

ownbook (1.2) 854976 bytes
performance.bin 1487264 bytes
ph-book2010.bin 28911248 bytes

I have a decent book in the making for Critter's style of play. Testing it online and tweaking lines. My hardware is not great, but the book seems to win games against monster hardware with Houdini as the opponent.

The point the author of any size will be a book. Very often, the big book is weaker than small books.

I still don `t know whether I will continue to test the book Polyglot ... With Polyglot books and Arena, and I figured I can do quite a strong book. I want all my strength, and computers to determine the Fritz.
