Firebird 1.1 is very strong. At 5/3 TC it is just under Houdini and
just about even with R4.
Do you plan on testing it at longer TC.

Best,
Gerold.
What time control would you suggest that is longer?

Did you try it with my settings Gerold :!: :?:
At a longer time control it stays above Rybka and Houdini....

FireBird 1.1 Dr.Deeb I

Pawn Hash=64
Pawn Value=120
Rook Value=600
Queen Value=1170
Bishop Pair Value=70
Verification Reduction=8

8-)
Dr. Deeb- would you say your settings for Firebird induce the program to be more positional or tactical :?:

It makes it extremely aggressive yet playing very sound and strong chess 8-)
Houdini's & Rybka's butt are already kicked regards,

which is the best (fastest) engine from following lists?

Firebird_11 w32_in
Firebird_11 w32_ms
Firebird_11 w32_ms_k
Firebird_11 w32_no_SSE2_k
:?
Well,I can answer your question only partially....I use Firebird_11 w32_in as I found it the fastest running on my Quad system....
The settings should be applied equally in my opinion, the difference will be in the speed of the .exe you use....

Thanks for your opinion, I'll try a few engines.
I'm curious if it plays better than houdini

Any news on FB 1.4?

Any news on FB 1.4?
At long time controls....that's at least 15 minutes per game plus a reasonable increment,it outperforms both Houdini and Deep Rybka 4....

No news on Fire 1.4 yes....all I know that there will be 2 versions,Fire 1.4 mostly based on these dettings which Norman will tweak to make them even stronger, and Fire 1.4 xTreme which will include a big number of UCI parameters to play with....

Gee, now you've got me all excited with talk of all these great new features in Firebird 1.4. :-)

Any idea when Firebird 1.4 will appear?

Thanks

Unfortunately Norman is too busy with his personal life....work,family,wife,as he stated in another forum....but let's hope in the upcoming 2 weeks to put our hands on Fire 1.4....that is a pure prediction of course

I have a core2duo laptop with 64bit Windows 7. Which Firebird do you recommend me use (popcnt, ms, ms_s, in, or in_popcnt)?
