The deadline for teams to declare themselves is the 10th. Have many of you missed the thread just like Bob did? http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35346 He is a candidate.
It was not helped by Sam editing his own post, just because he can, rather than replying to it which would have alerted members to the one team only in each forum ccc/ctf - so looks like there will be no election.
Is this really what the supporters of teams want?!
Maybe a poll to determine if teams are really wanted? I would have voted yes. Also the new rule that nobody can be a member of a team in ccc and ctf - where is the mandate for this?
Does anyone know the Mod Election starts tomorrow?

http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopi ... 941#360941
there is nothing stopping them from forming a team
hopefully those contemplating forming a team will step forward and run
but i have to say its doesn't totally surprise me actually

The 10th is today in 5 minutes here. When were the members asked if they were happy that no one can stand in both forums? This has always been allowed in the past. When were they formally asked if they support teams? Although teams is probably worth a go imho.Steve B wrote:Harvey Williamson wrote:The deadline for teams to declare themselves is the 10th. i
one other team needs to run and you have 8 members running
about normal for any CCC election
hopefully there will be another team yet
but i will not be surprised if we are unopposed for the reasons i mentioned earlier

Strawman if you believe in old style Soviet elections with only 1 candidate. Seriously though communication about these changes is really bad. The Admin panel on the forum allows the admin to email all members why does he not use it?Steve B wrote:all straw man argumentsHarvey Williamson wrote:The 10th is today in 5 minutes here. The rule about teams and the nobody can be a candidate in both forums are major changes - surely all members should be given chance to comment?

good idea! cant see that not helping matters and could only help to inform more membersHarvey Williamson wrote:

i would like to see MANY teams running
although..every election we get 15-20 people nominated and very few who actually agree to run
usually somewhere around 5-6 actually want this thankless job

Yep don't blame them for declining but if all we get is 1 team and no election and an admin who can't be bothered reply to his own posts to alert those logged in then it is all very sad.Steve B wrote:good idea! cant see that not helping matters and could only help to inform more membersHarvey Williamson wrote:

Re: Does anyone know the Mod Election starts tomorrow?
The team concept is not that different. Except that we now know that for a single team, there is a sense of agreement (even if they are individuals) as to a basic moderation philosophy. I had expected to see at least 2 teams at a bare minimum and really thought there would be 3-4 groups...Harvey Williamson wrote:Strawman if you believe in old style Soviet elections with only 1 candidate. With all the complaints during this term, I'd think several would be willing to give this a go and try to improve things.

Re: Does anyone know the Mod Election starts tomorrow?
I'd suspect Sam did not think when he edited his post. Rather than adding a reply to himself, editing was a reasonable idea. Except that the post does not get bumped to the top. Given the chance, it is a mistake I would likely have made. I'd assume editing changes the date. It does on every other file system I have worked on.Harvey Williamson wrote:Yep don't blame them for declining but if all we get is 1 team and no election and an admin who can't be bothered reply to his own posts to alert those logged in then it is all very sad.Steve B wrote:good idea! cant see that not helping matters and could only help to inform more membersHarvey Williamson wrote:
