Yar are you sure the two moves are not about equal? I also could not not find much difference between the evaluations but this version of Ancalagon still has bugs. I have not tried other programs.

I am making a Stockfish 1.5 clone mainly to do more checking and to try something new. Need a reference for debugging of Ancalagon. Just installed the new project but at the moment I can't let it analyze this until later. New clone is called "Rainbow Serpent 1.5" 8-) But the changes will be minimal for the moment, I just changed two lines and tried to make a compile.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

after some quick forward analysis (3 moves) i got -.34 for Bxa2 and -.24 for Nc5, are we sure Nc5 is better? i think both might be better for black w/out a clearcut favorite.

Bxa2 would be probably a draw.

Shredder 10 on a Q6600 2.4Ghz took about 6 mins and ply 15 search to first see that Nc5 was the better line. But then changed its mind again at ply 16 & 12mins. Ply 17 & 26 mins sees Nc5 and b5 better than Bxa2 and ply 18 & 50 mins gets the same result.

BTW How do you guys cut & paste from the analysis window. It doesn't work for me here with Chessbase GUI at all!
