This is my preferred option. The current game has probably a couple of weeks to run, so we have plenty of time to decidegerold wrote: Enjoyed the game. First 960 i have played.
I would prefer 960 to start and switch after awhile to Steve's
unit.
Maybe starting with an engine about the same rating as Steve's machine.
Best.
Gerold.

I want a revenge against a dedicated unit but this time starting with equal material, from move 1 or from a pre defined position.

Can I suggest that you make a separate sub-forum (not Tournaments and Matches) for these games? The numerous posts are burying every other topic of discussion.

2 threads are "burying every other topic of discussion"

... and how do we advertise our game while hiding in a special sub-forum ?
Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Re: The Third Forum Game
Another option may be a shuffle chess game. This is basically chess960 without the castling. Steve's dedicated units should be able to handle this right from move 1, I would have thought. It would save having to use a chess960 engine and then switch across. I'm happy to do that of course, but what do people think of this idea ?tano-urayoan wrote:I want a revenge against a dedicated unit but this time starting with equal material, from move 1 or from a pre defined position.

Yes they are, because they're very large, long-running threads. And some of us are actually not interested.

Switch to flat view and our threads will occupy 2 lines.jdart wrote:> 2 threads are "burying every other topic of discussion"?

i am sure that every member here can mention one if not several long running -popular threads in any of the forums that they are not interested in but that does not mean we should create sub-foras for each popular thread they each member is not interested in
its OK that you are not interested.. but this sub-forum is exactly the right place for the one thread(and now two) threads on the Forum computer chess games
initially when we started the first game some threads were created in the General forum and we quickly moved them here to the matches forum

Re: The Third Forum Game
This kind of game only makes sense if the engine used is the strongest out there, ie Robbolito. this way it will take some real clever tactics to win, even if some use computers to help make their moves.Steve B wrote:There seems to be interest in another Forum Game so this thread will kick off the Discussion
currently the Second Forum Game is still ongoing but the Forum has the Mighty BigLion on the ropes
a third game will commence when the current game is completed assuming there is sufficient interest
my thoughts are for another 960 game of some sort as it gets us out of a book battle and right into the actual play of the game of chess

I, for one, have no interest in playing what many regard as an illegal engine.Anton wrote:This kind of game only makes sense if the engine used is the strongest out there, ie Robbolito. this way it will take some real clever tactics to win, even if some use computers to help make their moves.
