The threads started by the Arena team astound me. They do not yet have F12 but they are reporting bugs. If they were reporting a new clone without evidence I think moderation policy would be to delete the thread.

If it's not out how can they do that?? A beta program tested?Harvey Williamson wrote:The threads started by the Arena team astounds me. They do not yet have F12 but they are reporting bugs. If they were reporting a new clone without evidence I think moderation policy would be to delete the thread.

A few people in Germany have it. The English version will be out soon. But if you read their posts they do not have it.Terry McCracken wrote:If it's not out how can they do that??Harvey Williamson wrote:The threads started by the Arena team astounds me. As I stated in my reply in one of those threads, it is fine to point out bugs in this or that program. It is done all the time here, so I see no problem with that. In fact I like it when people find things that I don't, and have the fixes to bypass them.Harvey Williamson wrote:The threads started by the Arena team astound me. My problem was the overtly aggressive nature in which they were presented.
If you don't like a certain piece of software, then don't use it or purchase it. That is the ultimate right of a consumer. To buy or not to buy.
To openly criticize a product that has not even been released to the masses, or even been tested thoroughly is a bit harsh. It seemed like the attack was personal against Chessbase due to dealings with admins on Playchess. If that was/is the case, then take it up there. Not here.
Last time I checked the CCC was not the place to air personal grievances. Private email, messaging programs, or a good ole fist fight on the playground seems more appropriate.
The attacks against the Chessbase products lately from a member or two came off not only as childish, but in my mind hurt their own offering into the computer chess interface "arena". While I never used Arena much in the past (Most know I am a die hard Winboard fan), it only made me not want to use it even more. I know others feel that way as well.
This is one of those "coulda, woulda, shouldn't have" situations. Hopefully those involved will approach bug reports with more maturity in the future.
So obviously I voted #2.

I was kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

Re: Fritz 12
Hello,
First I have only asked a question if those bugs are still present in the current version as the software has just been announced as availale at the ChessBase page. I did not, I repeat I did not post any screenshot of Fritz 12. Also as you can see in the CSS many people already have Fritz 12. So even if I have posted a screenshot it could be one of the numerous bugreports/screenshots I got from people who are now angry that they bought a buggy software.
Secondly I think the moderators should take some steps against you for wrongly accusing me. Do you still work for ChessBase as an sysop ?Are people still banned/muted for using Arena logos or mentioning ChessBase bugs ?
Also maybe you can tell us how a system of detecting cheaters can be reliable as the software is not reliable ?

I have been a volunteer sys op on Playchess for about 2 years now. In that time I have never seen anybody banned or muted for this. I have certainly never received any instructions from CB that this is what I should do.Michael Diosi wrote:Hello,

I do not have the F12 engine yet. I was a beta tester for GUI12 as were many others on Playchess not just sys ops. I have to say that they were very quick at fixing reported bugs and releasing a new beta.
However if people find bugs when they get F12 they should of course report them.

I might also add that your useless propagandist poll where you provide only the option YOU like is completely worthless.Harvey Williamson wrote:You do know Liske...right?In that time I have never seen anybody banned or muted for this. Option 3:
[x] Is it OK to ask if bugs are fixed before they spend money in a product.
