Just a gentile reminder to Chris and Henrik
you must make your move within 24 hours of the the time shown at the start of this thread(6:50am my time)
if you fail to post an official move in time i will be forced to claim a win by Time Forfeit

Ruthless Regards

My Reply
2.Nc3

[Date "2009.07.12"]
[Round "1"]
[White "Tasc R30(v2.2-1993)"]
[Black "CCC/CTF Forum Team"]
[Result "?"]
(Remove Blacks b Pawn)

1.e4 Bb7 2.Nc3*
[d] rn1qkbnr/pbpppppp/8/8/4P3/2N5/PPPP1PPP/R1BQKBNR b KQkq

Conditional moves are a common tool in Correspondence games to speed the game along when there are forced moves or obvious recaptures
they can also be used as a ploy to steer a game into certain positions( perhaps towards prepared lines) or to avoid certain positions
i offer the following conditional move ,which if accepted, means i must automatically play the indicated next move and its Blacks turn to move again..if the team makes any move other then the offered conditional then it is Whites turn to move..
you have 24 hours to accept or reject the conditional and if you accept it you then have another 24 hours to play your 3rd move
you can also of course accept the conditional and make your 3rd move all within 24 hours as well
IF 2..e6 THEN 3.Nf3
(if black votes to play on their next move 2..e6 then my reply is 3.Nf3 and it is now Blacks turn to move again)

e6 or c5, seem most to the point. Other plans or structures may work well, but need more depth and hard work.

IS this going to be the format for the real game? Or is it going to be a poll with the top few moves listed and people posting their analysis and such?

Poll with top few moves? What if there are 20 equally better moves, each with different plans and that the poll can't handle more than 10 options? :)

The way I have seen this before is the team Captain puts up choices, one of which is other. The choices for the poll are often discussed with a few of the active experts first. People post their analysis, and if using a computer aide cite that. Most people who vote end up reading through the thread, and going along with whatever the most convincing analysis is, rather than doing much of their own. Of course, you guys can run things however you want. I have only seen this type of thing once, and have no idea how it is "normally" done.

Thanks for the offer but we decline.

I vote for Nf6 in this position.....

[d]rn1qkbnr/pbpppppp/8/8/4P3/2N5/PPPP1PPP/R1BQKBNR b KQkq

Other ideas regards

The problem with a poll is that we do not know who is voting.

this is the format used by the Hiarcs Team and other Internet Forum teams in all of the games i have seen them play and that i have participated in .. (such as the Rybka team and a team of Russian Gm's) and it does seem to work very well
the only difference will be that once the real game begins 3 separate threads will be used for the actual voting, game diagram-pgn and discussion
however the CCC/CTF team can choose to use a different method ..its all up to the team and how it wants to structure itself
