What's wrong about login as guest and after someone accepts your seek inform them that they're playing a computer? That's what I used to do, I think it's legal and it got me a lot of more games than my computer account.

I remember it took two or three weeks to me, 2 years ago. I didnt renew my human account but they have not deleted the computer account so far.mathmoi wrote:Oki, i'll see then.BubbaTough wrote:Twenty to forty is not bad. I doubt you will get more human games than that on ICC against unless your engine was lower rated.Hi Sam,
I used to get more than 100 games per day (mostly bullet and blitz games) when my engine was playing slightly under 2000. But now I get between 20 and 40. mostly blitz and standard time control.

I have an other question for everyone. How long did you wait to be awarded your free computer account on ICC? I subscribed my paying account thusday and messaged FreeComputer the same night and I still haven't got an answer.
BTW : My experience is that I get much more games in ICC than in FICS.
Saludos, Andres

It took quite a while to get a computer account on FICS as my email address domain was in their bad boy list of free email domains.
Also, FICS computer accounts appear to be regularly deactivated when not used for an extended period.

Re: Will I get more games on ICC than on FICS
It has been my experience that I get more on ICC than FICS. So, I
switched years ago. Also, there was more hassle on FICS.
Telepath gets several GM's, IM's and players between 1800 and 2200.
DeFermian, Hartston and Yermilinsky fight it. I took it offline recently
because I am upgrading it, then it will be tested at home, then I'll
have it back online. I think the rating isn't the big deal with humans.
I think each one is attracted to a playing style. If your engine has an
entertaining style for many then it will get attention.
Also, given that you live in Canada and have an established rating
on a server or rating list, you are eligible to join the ACCA (free) and
enter the Pan American Computer Chess Championships held on ICC.

Ratings
Hm... maybe this isn't the best place to ask this, but... is there a way to rate my engine in my own computer, without connecting it to ICC or FICS? Using Chessmaster, maybe...?
I'm finishing the first version of my engine (named Hal, after the computer from 2001 - A Space Odissey) and I wanted to rate it before making it public.

Re: Ratings
Yes, download lots of engines that have a similar strength to your engine, play lots of games between them and your engine, and download software like bayeselo to know how the results equate to elo.
Then, just give information about the hardware and time control used so people can compare the elo to other rating pools.
It's easier to just release it and wait for people to test it, the community is very friendly and interested in testing new engines.

Re: Will I get more games on ICC than on FICS
Hi, everyones.
I reply to my own post because, since my engine can now play on ICC, I now have an idea how many games I will get.
First, my engine has been online for 40 hours total in the last two days. and he got 101 games. That's about 60 games per 24 hours. That's about half what I was getting on FICS (119 games per 24 hours, note this while my engine was weaker than it is now. recently it was getting less games).
However the good news is now I get a lot more standard time games. On FICS 20% of my games were standard time while on ICC, 68% are.
