Some information on the Mephisto London:

the London was the last program for dedicated computers by programmer Richard Lang whose programs won the World Micro Computer Chess Championships for an unprecedented 8 consecutive years(1984-1991)
no commercial chess programer either before or since has so dominated the commercial computer chess field
his engine was the "Rybka" of his day ..that is to say ..virtually unbeatable by any of the other commercially available programs
if the CCC were in existence in those days then 9-10 threads would be about Lang and his programs
the London was an update to Langs previous programs and the engine was released by Lang in 1996 on his own and not affiliated with Mephisto(which was now owned by Saitek)
the 33 Mhz version is rated a solid 2312 by Selective Search
there was also a 36 MHz version which was could only used by the Mephisto Tournament Machine and rated about 25-30 Elo higher
