I'm curious, what was being test with this challenge and what were the conclusions?

Anyway, with today's hardware you could reproduce their results at much faster time controls (they only played one time handicap game, you could play plenty with, say, latest Crafty Vs. Pro Deo.)

The question was how significant is NPS? The answer was never found because the match was ended by Ed after one game. The question came during the deep thought/deep blue development.mathmoi wrote:I'm curious, what was being test with this challenge and what were the conclusions?

Prodeo has no chance against latest Crafty with 100:1 time handicap.Ovyron wrote:Anyway, with today's hardware you could reproduce their results at much faster time controls (they only played one time handicap game, you could play plenty with, say, latest Crafty Vs. Pro Deo.)
It may be more interesting to repeat Rybka against latest Crafty in the same conditions when Crafty get 100:1 time advantage.
