Hello Haddad,
What Jouni is saying is that if all the moves are the same and all the nodenumbers are the same in analysis of one position, maybe he has done something wrong but the settings are not changed, not the way he did it.
I don't have Fritz so I can't check. I don't remember ever having read how you change the settings for Fritz. I'm sure there is something in the manual. But Jouni can't test anything because the way he has done it Fritz is still doing everything exactly the same as with the normal settings.
Fritz 10 settings are cosmetic only. The engine plays and analyzes exactly the same with any piece value setting. This bug was pointed out when F10 first appeared but the Chessbase did not do anything about it. It remains even in the updated DF 10.
If I say there is a bug, there deninitely is! I try many times to load new values with Fritz 10 restart and clear hash - no change ever!! With UCI engines no problem. But even if it in future works it should also include
storing to different engine name as UCIs for easier access!
Hello my friend.
You are right about the fact even changing the settings of F10 it doesn't change it's evaluation of the starting position. But trust me in engine vs engine games, F10 plays differently and got much better results with the ZH_Attack setting.
This surprises me, because i'm an old "tuner" of engines, especially and particularly UCI engines (Shredder +++), but also i used to modify some F8 and DF7 settings (native CB engines), and it's the first time i face such an issue. It could be also a bug in F10.
Disappointing is the fact that F11 couldn't be tuned as we can do with F10!! It only got 3 variables that could be changed and i doubt that the changes could make the engine better.
I still wait for someone to release his testings on CB server or homemade engine tournaments.
