Hamsters 0.5 released

Post by Alessandro Scotti »

Hi,
I have uploaded Hamsters 0.5 on my site:

http://www.ascotti.org/programming/ches ... _Win32.zip
http://www.ascotti.org/programming/ches ... MacOSX.zip

Unfortunately I don't know what happened to my site... I could not access it for a while and I still don't have full access. Also, the entire content seems to have rolled back to an old version, I see Hamsters 0.0.6 there! :-( Please use the direct link above while I try to understand what happened.

Anyway, this is an early release due to the fact that I'm going to play a tournament at end of this month, and wanted to bring a new yet "official" version.

I think this version is stronger than 0.4 but can't tell how much. Sometimes it plays really well, sometimes less well. Can't really say until I play more games.

BTW if you happen to play games with ponder=on and find some problems please let me know, I would like to enable ponder during the tournament.

Ok that's it, hope this program does well for you too!

I have replaced the beta one you gave as a prize with this one.

Thanks for this version,Let's see how it does in Division 3 Edition 6, It has indeed climbed up the division in 3 straight edition, from division 5 to 4 to 3!

Regards.

I have to be 100% fair in my testing- but it doesnt keep Hamsters from being my sentimental favorite. I mean, how could you look at those cuddly little things and not pull for them to win :D

Yes! It's impossible to keep one in your hand, feed him a peanut and not feel your heart warmer! :-)

OT a little , but i had a friend one time whose father had a pet squirrel. It stayed in the trees outside their house. He would walk out under the tree, and put some nuts on his shoulder. It wasnt but a second the squirrel would hop down on his shoulder and sit there eating the nuts. I swear im not making this up. And the squirrel knew what time each day he was coming, and he was waiting for him. Honest, its true. Damndest thing i ever saw.

Hi George

My father had several wild squirells in his yard that he had trained to eat pecans out of his hand. :-)
