Kirill - be aware that you can't disable its own internal book.
That's why we've not tested it at 40/40.

Thanks! Yeah I now reminded we have a note about it on our wiki and also somewhere in the forum. :-) OK, Francesca Mad is out of the question then.. The proposed list:
  • Green Light Chess
  • Arasan 64-bit
  • Spiderchess
:D

BTW, Graham, do you know about any problems with Green Light Chess? We did not test it in both 40/40 and 40/4, and it seems not too weak in other lists?

Graham, you did notice that I mentioned the below right.

Spiderchess is on your list, but I guess it had bad luck and did not make it above Tao. Arasan isnt a 64bit engine as far as I know, then again I am not a programmer but you should check the speed increase before wasting your time on it. Greenlight chess so far is the best bet IMHO.

Yes I did, but I thought that Kirill missed it.

I think SpiderChess is above Tao in the list, but I don't list it in my selection because it played almost no games with other free single-CPU engines in the same selection. So it is a good candidate for serious testing.

I found Green Light Chess web-site and saw that an engine was not updated for 4 years. So I think this will be my first choice to test (after current gauntlets finish). I have a soft spot for outdated engines. :-)

Yes, oldies are those I enjoy the most. I did lot of testing for Yace 0.99.87, Smarthink 0.17a, Ktulu 4.2, Anaconda 2.0.1, Fritz 5.32 and 6, SOS 5.1, Zappa 1.1, Ruffian 1.0.5, etc.. When it's outdated but still strong enough, it's my favorite thing to test. :-) (Though I am not the only one in our team who likes them).

There are other strong oldies you could test like Abrok, Pepito and Nejmet for example.
