While some of us have waited long for a new Fruit release, it seems now almost as we should get extra harddisk space to accomodate to the release-speed of new Fruit versions ;)
Most users who download the versions of engines always use the updated latest version and delete the old ones irrespective of their ratingsquote]

I disagree, I have over 3000 different versions of engines inside my engine folder. I know that Dann Corbit has every single version of rybka that was ever released, that alone should put him over the 3000 mark.

I am about to buy a new computer with 500gb so to have more
room for more chess programs. I also have all versions of just
about all the chess programs from start to finish.

Chess collector,

Gerold.

Thanks to the Fruit team for this new Fruit 2.3.

What would you guys do when chess is solved in 2030 or that Vasik retires himself from computer chess and declares that there's no special way to improve the code and there would still be weaknesses and 3400 is the maximum he could get or that Fabien releases the source code of a 3300 elo Fruit and cloners get tired while trying to improve 3300 Fruit under GPL? :P
or if there would be no releases or updates of new and existing programs?

That's the good and funny scenario :)

If any of these happens,Would you just throw away all of the programs?

The Fruit team just released Fruit 2.3 and some beta

Include Fruit 2.3 (including Beta versions 070327, 061115a, and 061115b)
I have a collection (8) of new logos i created for these new Fruit releases, plus versions 2.2, 2.2.1, and some earlier beta versions. I have sent them to Leo at WBEC Ridderkerk, but he will not be back from vacation until the first of August. If anyone would like to make these available for download on their site, i'll be happy to send them.

Fruit 2.3 is the same as Beta 070327 but with more UCI options and Search Focus set to 1 by default. CEGT has been testing this version and has over 450 games so far. If other test groups find it interesting to test Fruit it may take a few days still to get enough games for a stable rating. Also there are many interesting engines out that also need testing so it may take some time for some groups to get to Fruit. Also the 061115 versions may be the strongest overall, more testing is needed to know this for sure. I will try to release a more complete readme file when I have some more time to explain such things better.

I'm not sure if that's a joke but I hope it is?! Fruit 2.3 was released less than 24 hours ago...
