I do not know if it is a culture question, but I think that you all are offending
Larry Kaufman and Rybka team.
First Christopher, in my opinion, offended Chessbase showing some ridicule positions
of Deep Fritz 10, now Rybka.
Why you do not go in the Rybka Forum and show good suggestions? It would not be better for all?
What will be the next program, Christopher ????????
Ok, Ok, Ok, humor it´s necessary but this type of humor, at least for me,
can offend persons.

No one should be offended, it's just a little humour...don't take it seriously.

Because of this strange behaviour exibited by Rybka 2.3.1 it means that those who hex edit this particular version are now easily found out.

You should be happy.

:D (You are happy...right?)

On the GM match against Rybka, I prefer real chess which is something we are used to looking at.

There is nothing wrong with the match in theory except this one point to me personally.

Christopher

PS... Who's next? Anything people might copy is the easy answer.

Maybe Ktulu 9 for example....

verrrry touchy Group these Rybka loyalists

one slightly less then gushing comment about anything to do with Rybka..even their marketing gimmicks.. and you get called:
Anti-Rybka
Stupid
Making Noise

and these were some of the more flattering comments directed my way as of late

I even received a somewhat threatening email(NOT from anyone associated officially with Rybka)

its not like i can even be accussed of prefering another engine over Rybka because i own NO PC ENGINES

and now we see that some dont even have a sense of humor

Adulation Of The Magi Regards

But for the upcoming match, there will be no handicaps or odds of that type. Only some technical limitations for the computer side, and a 2:1 time advantage for Ehlvest.

Although, if Rybka plays with permanent brain - that point isn't mentioned in the match offer - the time disadvantage is compensated partially especially in case of ponder hits. Rybka's main problem will be the opening, because there will be book support for the first 3 moves only! That could result in interesting openings. Creativity may start at move number 4 not 24  OTOH, sometimes engines can find normal theory variations by calculation, typically sequences of "natural" moves.

No matter how you slice it, Ehlvest is going to have a very difficult time.

It still appears the smart money is on Rybka.
