Sting SF 8.8 release

Post by lech » Thu Oct 05, 2017 1:43 pm

Now, I hope Sting is able to solve all positions from my "IQ test" for engines.
Sting 8.8 doesn't need: some tricks like "nullmove disabling, rule 50, special parameters, MultiPV > 1" or tablebases or other odd tools to try to solve difficult for engines positions, and is still based on an old version of Stockfish (2.1.1).

I think that my project is now in such a crucial phase: is complete (quasi-intelligent) but needs something more in other layers, though.

Maybe, I can't be friendly, but let me be useful.

nice work - by far, the most interesting fork of Stockfish 👍

I would like to avoid the formulation that Sting is a fork of (maybe for) Stockfish.
My proud project Sting (based on the old Stockfish 2.1.1 code) try to prove that stupid chess engines (can't learn!) are able to solve positions ("IQ test" for engines) dedicated only for intelligent creatures (human, a.i. ...) and keep a high level of play.
