New Ares Coming

Post by CRoberson » Wed Oct 28, 2015 12:47 am

Decided to remove some code from the PE; Graham knows which. It makes it 70 Elo stronger at 100 games: Ares new - Ares1-005-64adv : 60.0/100 37-17-46

Was planning to release this, but I saw some obvious endgame knowledge missing today which was in much earlier versions and was ripped out in order to find another bug. Time permitting I will fix and test that. Planned release is during one of my 5 preferred release dates (Oct. 31).

Ares 1.005.2 is ready. I've called it 1.005.2, because I took some things out of the PE and 1 small bug fix to the PE. I removed some terms from the PE
that represent concepts that I learned of from multiple books on Chess. These things seem good for humans, but they made Ares worse.

For 1.005, there were many downloads, but only 2 people donated (they can download free this time). Hopefully, the rest will make a small donation if you can.

The new download page is here http://aigames.net/AresChess1-005.2.html

Does anybody recall my 5 preferred release dates?
One of them should be obvious.
You could look at Ares and Noonian release dates.

Thanks Charles for sharing your engine.
Looking forward to seeing how Ares 1.005.2 fares. :)

Is it possible to get a 64-bit exe for older computers as well?
I'm sure that Ruxy and others might like a 32-bit exe too if that's possible.

!!! NO !!!

GENERALISSIMO,

Gernerally a 32-bit chess engine can be find in the archives of top engines (from Komodo to Stockfish, from Naum to Fritz, from Gull to Texel, from Chiron to Andscacs......) !
Not enough ?

BTW, I will donate again.
If someone delivers for free because he want it that way, OK, I download for free.
If someone ask a donation, then there is a reason to ask that and you must comply.
So simple as that.

Just another thing:
are you the guy that operates as trainer or something the sort in a chess club in Burlington?
