Merry Christmas to all! :) To celebrate our Savior's birth, I give you the produce of two years of episodic efforts : Prédateur 2.0.

Among improvements and novelties, you'll find :
- ponder mode added
- Internal Iterative Deepening
- "Distance to mate" pruning
- Late Move Pruning
- "avoid null-move" in the hash table
- pawn-hash
- switched from verified null move to simple null move
- no more recapture nor pawnpush extensions
- Late Move Reduction finely tuned
- devided the search into a root and branchs ones
- much smarter output (PrÈdateur won't spam you anymore)
- improved time management
- passers and backward pawns recognition added to eval (still basic)
- LOTS of bugs suppressed here and there (especially in the hash tables
management).

It should be significantly stronger than Prédateur 0.1.5 (maybe +400 Elo? You tell me.)

You can download it on my website.

I wish you all a joyful Christmas 2010 and a very happy new year 2011! Have fun with Prédateur! :)

The bugs were "suppressed"? :D

Anyway, thanks!

Merry Christmas,
Peter

YEp, it's payback time! ^^ More seriously, if the older Prédateur was easy to beat for you, a 400Elo points stronger version shouldn't be a monster, but should put for an interesting fight, don't you think? :)

You're welcome :D (ps: my first name is Julien, that's why I write my second name with upper case, as it's also some people's first name).

Let's say "terminated", then ;) Though that would be walking on on another franchise... Next time I'll write everything in french ;)

Hmm... Most of testers found Pred 0.1.5 to be around 1600-1650, so this version should cross the 2000 Elo barrier... But I really don't dare make any estimation myself. What I can say is that it scores a 100% against Pred 0.1.5.

My apologies for that oversight. I didn't mean to be rude.
I notice that in CCC, members usually call others by their surname as a sign of contempt. That certainly wasn't my intention, as I know you're aware.

Cheers,
Graham.

Don't worry, Graham, that wasn't rude at all. :) Since my childhood I have to explain people what my first name is and what my last name is. You would experience the same if you were called Graham John, for instance.

I ran a small tournament last night to give you a little more comprehensive answer than previously. Though Prédateur 2.0 coming first sadly gives less informations than if it had came second. But that's yet something. :)
