Alaric test for Fritz users

Post by Peter Fendrich » Sun Jul 01, 2007 12:11 pm

I had some reports about troubles to use Alaric under Fritz.

I would like someone with a Fritz GUI to test the new Alaric before I release it. Tests of other commercial GUI's would also be welcome.

Please give me a note and I'll send you a copy.

Hi Peter,

I notice no problems in these tournaments:

http://perso.orange.fr/lefouduroi/tourn ... htm#180607

http://perso.orange.fr/lefouduroi/tourn ... htm#070507

http://perso.orange.fr/lefouduroi/tourn ... t/a52b.htm

http://perso.orange.fr/lefouduroi/tourn ... t/a52a.htm

http://perso.orange.fr/lefouduroi/tourn ... htm#110407

There was problem with the name of the opening book. If the good one is not in the Alaric directory, he doesn't start.

Now it's dann.book, for 703 it was danns.book.

There was threads in my forum about that:

Peter, I didn't notice any problem with the 70617 version under HIARCS 10 (CB) during match play or solving a test suite.

I played the CCRL games under Arena, no problem there either.

Hello All,

I need to check the settings on both my systems. Currently doing a 15 3 match versus ProDeo 1.5 and it does not appear that I have Alaric using it's own book. Appears that Alaric is playing with no book at all. Also not sure if ProDeo is using correct amount of Hashtables.

ProDeo 1.5 (Using Own Book)
P4 3Ghz HT / with 1.5 Gig of Ram

Alaric 70617
Pentium M 1.7 / with 2 Gig of Ram

Fritz 10 GUI's via Null Cable

So far after 5 Games I have 4 wins 1 Draw for Alaric

ProDeo is winning the Current game +5.41

Sure enough, I use GUI books for testing. No experience with Alaric using his own book.

Ted,
Maybe stupid questions but I have to ask!
Do yo have dann.book in the same directory as alaric?
Do you have dann.book as book parameter?

BTW, without book Alaric will be crushed in a long match due to book learning. Alarics learning outside book is very weak.

Yes, I do. It used the book when I played a quick test game with by myself. However when I did Computer vs. Computer it's not. Problem might be something I did, but I'll check into it. I will send you the games played so far.

No problems here Peter. I run Alaric under Chessbase GUIs frequently.
