I have had a few personal messages (mostly in other forums) where I highly suspect alcohol was involved.De Noose Daniel wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 1:56 pm I just receive insulting message from "Daniel Kemmer / SheikhYerbouti" ...

In electronic communications in any open forum, such interactions are almost inevitable.
It makes me feel sorry for the originator, because they are probably unhappy or have some problem.
The best way to handle it is to grow a two inch thick skin. We have a killfile here, and I have used it. I do not know if it also works on pm type interaction.
If you get a post that bothers you, it is good to report it, because you are likely not the only target.
I also try not to be offended, because taking of offense is a character flaw:"Do not be quick to take offense, for the taking of offense lodges in the bosom of fools" Ecclesiastes 7:9
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Yes, life is so much better after one stops caring about stuff that would have offended one before.
Also, just because someone attacks you doesn't mean you did something to deserve the attack, usually in internet discussions being attacked personally is a good thing, it means the other person has ran out of arguments!

I don't think moderators can see PMs. But I also don't think moderator intervention is needed to handle those: unlike offensive posts in the forums the receiver of a PM can delete the message that is addressing him by himself. And I think the forum software allows one to put people on a 'foe list', which I would hope would also block any future PMs from him.zullil wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 2:22 pmSimply report this to the moderators.De Noose Daniel wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 1:56 pm I just receive insulting message from "Daniel Kemmer / SheikhYerbouti" ...

Anyone named "Sheikh Yerbouti" simply deserves to be banned.hgm wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 5:57 pmI don't think moderators can see PMs. But I also don't think moderator intervention is needed to handle those: unlike offensive posts in the forums the receiver of a PM can delete the message that is addressing him by himself. Well, already the first post of 'SheikhYerbouti' (still a good zappa release though) went exactly like this:hgm wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 5:57 pmI don't think moderators can see PMs. But I also don't think moderator intervention is needed to handle those: unlike offensive posts in the forums the receiver of a PM can delete the message that is addressing him by himself. (translated from German)
Wow, are you an arrogant fool, or what?
I suppose, because it was in German language and also directed towards 'ovyron' it was not reported ;-)

Haha! Yeah, I even explained why my acts might have been seen as those from an arrogant fool and all.
Being called a fool isn't an insult, though, because fools can't know if they're fools, any person being called that can't say "I'm not a fool" because they can't prove it, and they wouldn't know if they were. Anyone could say "you're a fool for thinking you could defend 1.g4 against Harvey", and I don't have a way to refute that; it's foolish enough.
