Sting SF 4.8.2 release (64-bit too!)

Post by lech »

It is the same version as Sting SF 4.8.1, but I used the file lock.h from Stockfish 222.
I hope, it may help for user of Windows XP.

This version contains my x64 compilation too.

Frank, at this moment I used only the one file of Stockfish 2.2.2 and it is rather a technical support for Sting than a try to find some ELO points.

The version of Sting SF 4.8.2 is very important for me. It was a sacrifice to do the first 64-bit compiltion.
I hope it will be using and I am waiting for opinions of users.
Of course, please to use it, even if you don't work under Windows XP.

I tried this 64-bit compilation under Win 7: i7 and a better dual core (Pentium IV). I am very interesting about Octal (?)

I feel the pression to use a higher version of Stockfish. I think that only I am able to implenet ideas of Sting to a newer Stockfish. It is not easy.to do it, but possible.

Hi Marek,

thanks for your comments!
Give me a hint if you are thinking can be start in a Rating list.
OK, I have at the moment 7 engines to test but I can added the engine in my list if you thinking that Sting have an own face and is ready for it.

Good luck with your ideas and thanks for Sting. Have it on my harddisk and analyze so far positions with Sting on my Notebook.

Hi Frank,
I believe that Sting has its face.
I have clear hands regarding to Stockfish's authors and license conditions. In Sting, there is no stolen idea and I hope the question why I used Stockfish's code is clear too.
I think Sting is an original engine by many original ideas. Sting breaks some inablity barriers and open new areas for programmers (done in the open source code !).
I am one of you even if it looks in other way.
best Marek

Hi Marek,

after my short test (positions only, I compare a bit with others) fully agreed.
Very nice what you do ...

So I will test it in my Rating List ... but a little bit later!
Monday to see in my ToDo Calendar (I am not at home at the moment).

Keep up your good work!
All is OK from my view and I have later a new and interesting engine in my list.

A window pops up and says msvcp120.dll is missing.
I have a new system with windows 8.1.
cant believe it is necessary to load a dll file.

I tried downloading and it works. Sting works under Windows (was tested XP and 7).

Maybe some more information: operating system, procesor?
