Naum 4.5?

Post by tmokonen »

The last public release of this program was version 4.2, yet I see Naum 4.5 playing in the TCEC tournament. I thought this project was dead....?

It is a bug fix so it could play in the tournament, since it was crashing like mad in 16 cores.

Not entirely correct.

The 4.2 binary that was the last public release, started in Stage 1.
This had a crash, however, so Alex sent me a crash-free version of 4.2 that also enabled 16 instead of 8 cores. This version played the rest of Stage 1.

Then, after Stage 1 was in the final round and before Stage 2 started, he sent me version 4.5 which is a "slightly stronger" version than 4.2. He gave no more indication of this.

I have no idea if he will release this version to the public, you'd have to ask him.

I sent Alex an email, but didn't get a response.
