Rhetoric 1.0, new version

Post by asanjuan »

Hello everybody.
There's a new version of my own engine Rhetoric. I think it is playing with a decent and enjoyable level. My tests suggests that can be close to the psychological barrier of 2500 elo, but I'll have to wait to see a realistic elo in the current elo lists, because I have a limited set of opponents.

In general, I want to thank to those users who gave me advice in this forum.
Special thanks to Brian Richardson.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks Alberto. :)
It would have been better to post this in the general subforum.

Graham.

I'm sure that one of the moderators will move it for you if you request it.
No need to be sorry.
Thanks for sharing your nice engine. 8-)

We can move it if you want. Are you more interested in letting the authors know so they can use your engine as a partner or the public so they can test it and use it? It is not terribly bad to announce it in the P&T sub-forum, but generally these announcements are in the general one.

Well, my intention was to thank other programmers, but also to let them to use Rhetoric as sparring engine, as I did with other's engines.
But, Ok, let's move it.
Miguel, Can you do it for me?
(Really don't know if I can do it myself, i feel like an idiot)

With all that fora thing many things goes astray or are lost.
It is HERE where old hands see what is going on.
Do not listen to him.

Graham actually suggested to move it here. Alberto originally posted it in the technical forum and I moved it by OP's request. Now some of the posts look funny after the move.

Thank you !

My first test is versus an old () Octochess (r4692). Was crushed easy (too easy) by Rhetoric 1.0 ! Octochess r4692 is not a weak engine !
A question: this your new engine supports the hash command ? Arena 3.0 was setted for 128 MB (UCI engines) and I see 195 MB hash used by Rhetoric (well, Octochess uses 1/3 from the available RAM memory) ? Or maybe is a fixed hash ?

SilvianR
