Ares 1.004

Post by CRoberson »

Hello All,

Happy WCC! In honor of the WCC, I release Ares1.004.
I know, I usually release on holidays. Shouldn't WCC be a holiday
for the full time of the match?

I have emailed it to the usual places, so check there. It may take a few hours for them to put it online.

Ares 1.004 should be 50 to 75 Elo stronger than 1.003a.

As before, cloning and reverse engineering of Ares is expressly
prohibited.

Best all of you,
Charles Roberson

I don't have a 64 bit compiler for MS. Is there a free one?
My 64 bit Linux version is measurably stronger than the 32 bit one.

This version of GCC can compile native Win 32 or 64 bit apps
http://www.horizonchess.com/wpg64/index.php?page=index

You even get a couple of nice IDEs that will, by default, build 64-bit apps.

It's a very big download and must be unzipped to the root of your C drive, otherwise all the hardwired paths won't work. Everything will actually get extracted to C:\msys. Your registry is not touched, it's fully portable.

Here is one. It is about 36mb in size and has an installer.

Windows SDK includes a fully working 64-bit compiler.

You can download it here for free.

Is there a way I can get a 64-bit Linux compile from you? I'm not sure you are distributing source with a Makefile, so even a binary would be fine.
