So I'll be surprised if SF 2.3 shows even +10 on Windows if you show a decrease in NPS. As you say, we'll see. Frankly we were hoping for a bigger gain by SF, as currently only Ippo-related programs are close to Komodo at hyperbullet speeds, and we could use an unrelated opponent closer in strength for testing.
You could well be right, I guess we will see in a few days as results come in. FRC can be a little different too. But I can't run FRC at the moment due to the bug.
Stockfish 'Barracuda' has Marco's latest Chess960 fix and is compiled as /MT so should not need any additional .dlls But it is just my own slow 32-bit version, compiled with ancient MSVC 2005 and no profiling is done. It is available now on the Toga Developers Discussion Board with a minimally changed source, to include Marco's latest fixes, not much of a change log yet, for that I for now refer to TalkChess again. I don't think there will be more Stockfish 'Barracuda's, it is better to just keep one Rainbow Serpent.
No need to include this one in any ratinglists but you can test Chess960 with it 8-)

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

2.5s + 0.04s games on one core

Code: Select all

    Program Score % Elo + - Draws

  1 Houdini 1.5a x64 : 1419.5/1800 78.9 3368 17 17 18.8 %
  2 Komodo 5 64-bit : 963.0/1800 53.5 3215 14 14 25.2 %
  3 Stockfish 2.3 JA 64bit : 652.5/1800 36.2 3123 14 14 28.5 %
  4 Stockfish 2.2.2 JA : 565.0/1800 31.4 3095 14 14 26.7 %
28 +/- 14 Elo points improvement with 3 different opponents. Means 10-15 points at blitz TC, confirming the first test.

Yes, this runs and does not crash with the FEN example that caused the crash in the official release.

Thanks Kai! Will be quite interesting to see how it does at longer TC.

I do not think that it is possible to know about the difference at longer time control based on the difference at very fast time control.

There are changes that scale better and there are changes that scale worse.

I am sorry, perhaps someone has already reported that. Anyway i've just dowloaded (again) from the stockfish site the 2.3 64 bit JA ss4.2, i ran a match at chess960 at hyper-bullet and after around 90 games 2.3 crashed (it simply stopped running).

Stockfish 2.3 JA 64bit SSE4.2 caused an exception, game stopped.
