The latest ratinglist features four new entrants. First out is Chiron 3.01,
a program designed by Ubaldo Andrea Farina. It's still early on in our
testing on the Q6600-level, but Chiron 3.01 has achieved a very respectable
rating of 3166 after the first 149 games! More games will of course follow.

The next new program is Ed Schroeder's - Pro Deo 2.1 YAT, which we have
tested on the A1200-level. Pro Deo 2.1 YAT is essentially a Pro Deo 2.0, but
with a huge opening book consisting of 150 million opening moves! We need
more games with both 2.0 and 2.1 YAT to be more confident about the
difference in rating, but for now the difference is 56 points between the
two versions and Pro Deo 2.1 YAT has reached a rating of 2858 after
240 games!

We can also present two new manually tested chess computers on the new list.
The first one is Revelation Deep Sjeng 3.0. It is Gian-Carlo Pascutto's
Deep Sjeng 3.0-program adapted for Ruud Martin's Revelation I machine.
It is the fourth program which we have tested on the Rev I/Res II-hardware,
and after 100 games its rating is 2599, which places it 30 points behind
the Revelation Rybka 2.2.

And we can now finally introduce the oldie Mephisto Nigel Short on our
list. It's a dedicated chess computer from 1993, which was sold by Mephisto
about the same time as Nigel Short and Garry Kasparov fought over the PCA
World Champion title in London. The Mephisto Nigel Short was programmed by
Ed Shroeder and it's an upgraded version of the Mephisto Milano. The rating
after the first 128 games is a rather impressive number of 1945! For the
moment it's rated 78 points higher than the Mephisto Milano! It has placed
itself 2 points above the Mephisto Polgar 10 MHz and the only 8-bit machine
which is rated higher than the Mephisto Nigel Short, is the Mephisto MM 4
Turbo-Kit, which bumped up the original 6502 5 MHz to 16 MHz. So far,
this makes the Mephisto Nigel Short the strongest non-overclocked 8-bit
chess computer we have ever tested for the ratinglist!
