Komodo 9.41

Post by lkaufman »

We have just released Komodo 9.41, a bug-fix that is free to anyone entitled to version 9.4. Version 9.41 fixes two unrelated bugs that were discovered after the release of 9.4. The first is an eval bug; we estimate that the fix in 9.41 is worth about five elo points. The second is a crippling bug on the Mac version, which may also affect the Windows version, perhaps depending on hardware, GUI, and time limit. We recommend that everyone should replace 9.4 with 9.41.
For testers, we leave it to your judgment whether to start over or to merge the results of 9.41 with 9.4. We can say that the elo gain is probably in the five to fifteen range, but this may depend on time limit and hardware. We suspect that the bugfix is more important for MP tests than for single core.
Komodo rules!

Komodo 9.41 appears to be slower in reaching depth 20 than 9.4.

I can confirm there is still a problem in Komodo 9.41. We are working on a fix which we will release it once it is tested.

I am very sorry for this. It went unnoticed when we tested with very fast games (the bug takes a while to "kick in").

I request that testing groups not test 9.41 and please wait for the update once we have it.

I think it will be worth the wait.

No wonder I was getting poor results with 9.41. After 72 games at 40/4 repeating tc the 12CPU version was scoring only 53% against an average opponent rating of about 100 elo below Komodo 9.3 12CPU.

9.40 was performing closer to what's expected, scoring 65% after 110 games against an average opponent rating of about 100 elo below Komodo 9.3 12CPU.

Leto Atreides

K9.41 is only capable of reaching depth of 25 at most, due to this severe depth bug.

We have to be patient and wait for Komodo 9.42 :)
