An exact clone of current developmental engine Crafty 25.0, limited to one CPU, and to about 5 million nodes on any one search. To keep the exe down to 106 KB, it does not contain any EGTB code. Other than the aforementioned limitations, it is a fully functional version of Crafty that is designed to play very fast. On the CCRL 40/4 (adjusted for hardware) , it will play to about a level of 2450 despite not utilizing all of its time. Since it does not think beyond 5 million nodes, at lower time controls, it's rating will be lower. At 40/40 tc, adjusted for hardware, it will play to about a 2320 level.
In the "craftyrc" file, you can adjust how many nodes Crafty will search using the parameter "sn=x" where x represents the number of nodes. The default is 10,000 nodes, it is capped at 5,000,000. The table below shows an estimated nodes searched and comparable ELO rating. Crafty gains ~100 ELO point for every 6.2x increase in time. It decreases 120 ELO for every decrease by 6.2x. Note this changes once the nodes drop below 100K and changes again below 10,000 nodes. On my machine ,it will generally cover 4,000,000 nodes in less than a second.
Nodes Searched ELO
4,000,000 2440
1,600,000 2380
625,000 2320
250,000 2260
100,000 2200 below 100K nodes, Elo drops ~100 points for every 2.5x decrease
40,000 2100
16,000 2000 below 10K nodes, Elo drops ~150 points for every 2.5x decrease
6,250 1850 it is recommended not to use nodes < 5000.
