In this summer-ratinglist we can present a new leader on our ratinglist. It is
Stockfish 6, the program of Marco Costalba, Joona Kiiski and Tord Romstad.
After 536 played games it has reached a very impressive rating of 3334! The
difference in strength from our previously tested Stockfish 3 is +129 points!
The Stockfish opening book which we have used for the testing is the book by
Fauzi Dabat and is called "Aggressive 1.3 by Fauzi.abk". A very strong combined
perfomance by the team of Stockfish and openingbook maker Fauzi Dabat!

For our next list our main goal will be to have enough games with our ongoing
test of the latest Komodo-version and the Revelation II Hiarcs 14.1.
Our aim is to publish that list as soon as these two criterias are met, probably
in about 2 months time from now.

Hi Lars,

I have a question. Back in the fritz days when it was best in the world like around the year 2000 I always used to look at your Swedish rating list as the main authority. But I was wondering why you don't get all the recent versions of each engine? I'm sure you'd get all the versions for free from the authors since you're doing testing for a list. I understand it's all classical time control games, but most of the engines on your list are ancient versions. So I've turned to CCRL, CEGT, IPON, and OWL rating lists for more regular engine updates.

Let me say tough I DO appreciate the fact you have a classical time control list (so does CEGT), and I understand you can't make as many engine updates as a quicker time control list. But even Komodo 7.0 is ancient (it's now on 9.1). ALso there are many free engines that are stronger than robyka, hiarcs, junior etc. but it seems that SSDF list focuses a lot on chessbase products, rather than other free engines.

Just some constructive criticism to make your list an authority again.

Sincerely,

Tim.
