Satana 2.0.8 released (win32/64 + Mac OS X)

Post by stegemma »

I've released the last version of Satana, both for Windows and Mac OS X. I've tested the Mac version only on my OS X Yosemite but I think that it should works on any previous Intel based version of OS X.

download it for free:

Thanks for the games, they show how much I still have to work on evaluation function. The 2.0.8 maybe is weaker than 2.0.7 but it is a new starting point, for further improvements.

I've corrected the "2.0.7" old label in "protover" xboard command.

In this release there are some extra command line parameters:

satana.2.0.8.exe -random
plays random moves

satana.2.0.8.exe -random -proportional
the random moves has choose with a proportion equal to the value

satana.2.0.8.exe -random -timed
still play random moves but using the same time as it would normally think

A random engine could be used as a sparring partner for a normal engine or very weak humans.

A friend has noticed me that on Windos XP 32 bit the executable doesn't works ("not a valid 32 bit application" message). Sorry for this, it was an option on Visual Studio 2013 that would have to be changed (platform and linker subsystem).

The actual version now works even on XP 32 bit:

Thanks to you. Please, let me know if you have any problem using Satana with some interface, because I've tested the console version only, on Mac OS X.
