On our latest list and stronger by its previously tested version by 41 points,
is Komodo 7.0. The rating is an impressive 3295 after 476 games played!
A very strong performance from the team of Larry Kaufman and Mark Lefler!

We have also tested a newer version of Jon Dart's - Arasan program. The version
which we have tested this time is the 17.2-version. After 422 games we have it
26 points over the latest version.

Last out on this list is Ed Schroeders Pro Deo 1.86 program on our A1200-level.
It trails its former version 1.82 by 44 points after 190 games played, but have
had some really tough opposition so far. It will face some A1200-opponents from
now on and we will have to see if that changes things on our next list which we
will release in early february.

Other things worth mentioning is that Revelation I Hiarcs 13.3 lost 30 points
from the last list and now has 2768 after 137 games played. Most points gained
from last list was Deep Junior Yokohama with +8 points.

The next list will be out in early february and for that list we will have
enough games to be able to present a new manually tested program, in addition
to hopefully some new automatically tested program that is.

Sure it is discovered. Just see CEGT or CCRL for instance if you would like to see Houdini in a ratinglist. But I guess you are trying to be funny and/or ironic. Do you think the coin has more than one side?

We would have no problem in testing Houdini. But you can go either of two routes as I see it: CB's version or directly via Robert. Neither of these routes are possible at the moment since:

* Robert hasn't answered any mails/communication.
* Chessbase has ditched Auto232-support in their GUI's.

Until any of these is fixed, I doubt we will have any chance of testing Houdini.

I will give you good advice. You should stop this non-sense rating list. It is just funny, nothing else.

Thanks for the update to the list :)

Really odd that chessbase dropped Auto232 support.

Sticking with Auto232 (still serial, seriously?) will bring you in trouble sooner than later.
If you want to continue your list with improved hardware (and "I" know about the needed investments ...) you should think about exploring different solutions ... SSH comes to mind - which accidentlly is possible in CB GUIs when connecting to something today (and at least the last 5 years+) - with the HW you already have you are able to test Houdini today if you want to ...

Besides that: Thanks for your list! As every list it has its downsides but I respect and admire effort, result and endurance. Nothing comes close to that!!!

Ingo

I assume your comment is ironic - I like to run my CPM programs on my old 8" Floppys but cant find anything decent nowadays. Something went wrong somewhere :D

SSDF had sense maybe 10 or 15 years ago. What is the reason for so prehistoric rating list??? Pleistocen era hardware, Houdini engine completly missing, just Stockfish 3 included...it is time for retirement :D

If you broaden your focus from just the engines to include the hardware, then the SSDF is the reference list. It bridges part of the gap from old to new hardware, and it is calibrated (though tenuously) to human ratings.

Besides, it makes no sense to deride other people's work because it is not useful to you.
