Yes. Time control is better than Ivanhoe B46fb. Ivanhoe is a little stronger at longer time control but Strelka is better at short t/c. I would say its about a 30-50 elo increase at short t/c base on 200 games so not for sure yet on the increase in elo.

Hi,

I noticed when I downloaded these that they are .rar files. I didn't see any application .exe files. Can you tell me what those files are for and how you use them? I have fritz/chessbase GUI and it does support UCI engines but I typically see application files or .exe files, and this is .rar. Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Tim.

Rar files are like zip files in that they are compressed archive files. You can download and install 7-zip to open these rar files and extract the chess engine from them.

RAR is the standard for all achiving as it's better than ZIP in compression, 7z is around too so 7 zip is good from decompressing RAR's but not making them.

Re: Strelka new edition: Strelka 6 is likely a clone.

Hello to everybody:

I want to share some interesting posts of ImmortalChess Forum:

http://immortalchess.net/forum/showthre ... 80&page=18

------------

Here is a image of a similarity test:

Here is an exact behaviour of Houdini 4 and Strelka 6:

[d]k7/p7/p7/p7/P7/P7/P7/K7 w - - 0 1

Code: Select all

128 MB of hash for each engine:

Strelka 6 w32:

------------

And finally here is an explanation of Jury Osipov (the author of Strelka) about this new version:
Jury Osipov wrote:In short
-Houdini 4 code-base was used with the following main changes
-Some changes in the PST.
-Material imbalance table is not calculated but is built-in.
-A built in database of positions reached in decisive LTC games betwen strong engines in the past two years.
------------

That said, I consider testing Strelka 6 as a waste of time. Sorry for my tough words. Of course, everybody is free to do what they want.

Regards from Spain.
