Hi all,
I decided that it's time to move on and decided to stop working on cheng.
This version contains many minor bugfixes. It's not improved (ok maybe 5 elo)
so for those who already tested 0.36a - don't waste precious time on this version.
I decided to go open source because keeping the source closed doesn't make sense anymore.
I decided to go with a dual license this time, anyone can choose either zlib-compatible
license or consider the sources public domain (because I'm not a fan of GPL).
I'd like to thank all those who ran tournaments with cheng and to all chess friends.
Special thanks goes to Emil Vlasak for hosting my program.
I guess that sums it up.
Oh it's available (as usual) here: www.vlasak.biz/cheng
Have fun
Martin

are you creating another chess engine or just taking a break?
If it's the latter, I hope that you regain your motivation at some stage to further develop Cheng.
Thanks for all the enjoyment you've given us by sharing your engine.
Graham.

No Graham, it's neither of that. I'm done with computer chess (I don't plan to focus on variants/other board games either).Graham Banks wrote:are you creating another chess engine or just taking a break?

All the best with whatever you decide to do. I've enjoyed our chats in TLCV.

Hi Martin,
sad news. It gives me a chance to catch up with cheng eventually but I rather had a moving target.
I wish you all the luck in the future and maybe one day you feel the urge to fiddle with some bitboards again.
