You can use the "mini-board" feature to have several broadcasts on your screen.

Yes, TLCV is a great tool. It really adds a new dimension to watching engine-engine games. Too bad it handles only orthodox Chess. I would have loved to use it for broadcasting other variants.

When it works it is great. But for some reasons, it works when I install it, and then stops working. I tried many times but I had no much luck with it.

TLCV has always worked on my computer, no connection problems.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

I'm working on a new Qt-based client but I have to sort some things out first. TLCS uses UDP which is unreliable and out of order packets causing some problems.
Here is a screenshot of how it looks like:

I don't have much time now to work on it now but as soon as it's ready I'll probably release it.

I did not know the protocol used by TLCV is documented. Did you reverse engineer it?

I recall a while ago there was talk of creating a server which would function in the same way as TLCS but which would emulate a pseudo ICS, so that one could use xboard to observe or examine games. Did anything came of this?

Of course if one goes this route then I guess one could just as well run games locally on a real ICS as Joshua Shriver is doing.

Sounds like it would be a fun project. Added to my list but have 2 more ahead of it.

I inherited the CGOS server from Don Dailey. Perhaps I could use this as a basis for such a project but redone for xboard/uci chess instead of Go.

http://cgos.computergo.org/ (actually runs on the same server as OICS)

Yes I used a packet sniffer. The protocol is plain text and very simple. I hope Tom won't mind.

As for ICS, it's poorly documented (not at all?) and I don't think it provides all the functionality of TLCV (because the goals are different) - but I may be wrong as my knowledge of ICS procol is zero (AFAIK each server has its own dialect).
Something new (a standardized protocol) suited for engine matches may be the way to go, I would go with a reliable plaintext protocol.

When I stop operating the system tells me that file "MSCOMCTL.OCX" is corrupt.
One is the reinstall.
