Hi all,
new version is available (as usual) here: http://www.vlasak.biz/cheng/
For changelog see readme.
I measured +65 elo in self-play bullet but I have reports that it holds
against other opponents even at LTC so we'll see, the lower bound is +15
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….
I'm very happy to see you restarted to develop Cheng!
when I started developing Vajolet I looked at Cheng, studied some of your code and hope to one day reach his strenght. Now that I have catch him you raised the bar.

LOL ) Good one.
But thanks guys.
cheng3 is a very bad example of how things should be done, the code was very ugly and full of bugs, I didn't know how to test properly back then (and not sure if know any better now)
cheng4 is not open source but the code is much cleaner and less than half the size of cheng3. Nothing remained except for magics and some utility code.
Also eval is less than 50% of the complexity I had before.
And of course it now has a wonderful manually tuned opening book by Arturo (thanks a lot!) plus I fixed book probing code too so it should be able to play some chess now
